Stephen Strasburg was supposed to walk away with a tremendous amount of strikeouts and another win for his untarnished 13-0 record on Friday night. Fortunately for Virginia it didn't happen that way.
The Cavaliers got to Strasburg early. Phil Gosselin took a low fastball way over the wall in left field for a solo home run for the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning. From there a Jarrett Parker infield single RBI, and a Steven Proscia home run in the eighth inning would be enough as the Cavs put away the Aztecs 5-1.
Strasburg did do his damage with 15 strikeouts, but Robert Morey did his damage as well. Morey put up nine strikeouts in the most important win of the season thus far for the Cavaliers.
Virginia advances to face either UC Irvine or Defending NCAA Champion Fresno State tomorrow night at 11pm eastern time.
