With alot of attention left upon college baseball the past few days, the Falcon Club shed some light on some local high school athletes on Wednesday night. The Albemarle 4-by-800 relay team, who set national and world records this past season were the first to be recognized by the club. A huge part of that team's success is senior Zach Vrhovac and in addition to the team award, was given the Skip Kinnier Award, which is given to the areas top athlete.
Covenant's Joshua Allen was also recognized at the event, as he was the recipient of the Hugh Bingler award which is given to the areas top baseball player. Allen was a .400 hitter on Doug Smethurst's squad where he played 3rd base. Allen will try to continue his career at Tennessee next season where he plans to walk on the baseball team for the Volunteers. Vrhovac, however will stay local and attend Virginia to run track for the Cavs.
