Cavalier freshmen Danny Hultzen and Steven Proscia have been named 2009 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-Americans. The two have been very key components in the Cavaliers' run to their first NCAA Super Regional in program history.

Hultzen is the 2009 ACC Freshman of the Year, and provides a threat for the Cavs on both sides of the ball. He holds a 9-1 record in 15 appearances this season with a 2.01 earned run average. Hultzen also has accumulated 90 strikeouts in 80.2 innings, which marks a Virginia freshman record. He also leads ACC rookies with a .335 batting average. He has clubbed three home runs and knocked in 33 RBI.

Proscia is second to Hultzen in conference freshmen batting average at .325. His nine home runs are the most by a freshman since Sean Doolittle in 2005, and he has 56 RBI on the season.

The Cavaliers arrived in Oxford on Wednesday, where they will take on Mississippi in the NCAA Super Regional beginning Friday.
