O'Connor Named NCBWA National Coach of the Year

June 13, 2009

Virginia Baseball Head Coach Brian O'Connor has been named the National College Baseball Writer's Association National Coach of the Year.

O'Connor has led the Cavaliers to a 48 win season, the most in program history. He has also led Virginia to a berth in the College World Series for the first time ever, as well as the program's first ACC Championship since 19-96. O'Connor was the only coach to appear on every voter's ballot.

O'Connor and the Cavaliers fell to LSU in their College World Series opener Saturday night 9-5. They will face Cal State Fullerton in Monday's elimination game. First pitch is set for 2 pm from Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha.
