Many of us enjoy hitting the golf course during the summer, and the Charlottesville area offers many options when it comes to hitting the links. Many of the courses are ranked among the best in the country, but how do these courses look top-notch all the time?
CBS19's Jed Gamber had that exact same question, so he went to Birdwood Golf Course early Thursday morning to find the answers. Jed spoke with Golf Course Superintendent Matt Wade and Director of Golf Martin Winters about how to keep the course in top form.
The day begins around 5:30am for the grounds crew, who spend their time making sure the tee boxes, fairways, and greens are in perfect condition. They also place cups and mow grass, but this is nowhere near their full list of responsibilities.
