Brandenburg Reportedly Will Transfer

July 10, 2009

Virginia Center John Brandenburg reportedly will transfer according to the Charlottesville Daily Progress.

Brandenburg played in just eight games last season, averaging just 3.3 minutes and 1 point per game. He saw the most time in UVa's final road game of the season, a blowout loss to Clemson. He had two points, a rebound and a block in that game, but drew the most attention for the technical foul he got after that block.

The 6'11" Brandenburg was a four star recruit out of high school. His departure leaves UVa with only one true center in Assane Sene and a general lack of size. Sene is the only player taller than 6'9" on the team, and of the remaining big men, only Mike Scott and Jamil Tucker played in every game last season.

No word yet on where Brandenburg will transfer.
