Former Cavalier golfer Steve Marino is tied for the British Open lead after two days of play. Marino is playing in his first open championship, and only the fourth major of his career.
The former Cav shot a two under par 68 today, and now sits at -5 for the tournament. Marino is tied with Tom Watson heading into the weekend. He said after his round that it was one of the best rounds he's ever played.
This marks the first major championship of the season for Marino. He has started 21 PGA events in 2009, and has three top ten finishes, but no wins. Marino is currently ranked 27th in the world, and hopes to grab his first major championship victory come Sunday afternoon.
The former Virginia star fared much better than top ranked Tiger Woods. Woods missed the cut at the British Open, marking only the second time in his professional career that he has missed the cut in an event.
