Marino Slips to 10th at British Open

July 18, 2009

Former Cavalier Steve Marino shot a +6 at the third round of the British Open and is now tied for 10th heading into the final round at Turnberry.

Marino never fully recovered from a rough start to the day where he dropped five shots on his first five holes. He bogeyed holes two, three and four before double-bogeying five. After a birdie on 11 got him back to -3, he bogeyed 12, then parred 13 and 14. He found a lot of trouble on 15, triple-bogeying the hole to move to +2. He would then bogey 16 before two straight birdies on 17 and 18 to close out the day.

The former Cavalier is currently tied for 10th with Boo Weekley, Angel Cabrera and Richard Johnson. He will tee of at 8:20 AM ET on Sunday. Tom Watson is the leader after three rounds with a score of -4.
