Charlottesville Fencing Alliance Holds Camp

July 20, 2009

This week local kids are taking part in a camp at the Charlottesville Fencing Alliance, attempting to sharpen their skills in one of the oldest Olympic sports.

Leading the camp is one of the all-time great fencers. Michael Marx has won several national championships and competed in five olympic games. His students have gone on to compete both nationally and internationally.

About 30 fencers from around the state are participating in the camp, which focuses on both mental and physical aspects of fencing. Campers participate in drills designed to improve footwork, technique and conditioning, but they also get to play some fun games.

The camp wraps up at the end of the week.
