Head coach Al Groh is back for his ninth season at the head of the Cavalier football program. Groh took some time to sit down with CBS19's Marc Davis and talk about the upcoming season.

The head coach feels that this coach has a good mix of experience and young talent, and compares it the 2002 team, though feels this team has more veterans to guide the young players than that team did. He also talks about his new coaching staff, and the quarterback situation.

Groh also talks in detail about his philosophy this preseason of getting five percent better during each practice. He has been preaching to his players that getting five percent better each practice will equal 150 percent after 30 practices.

Al Groh and the Cavaliers kick off their season on September 5 against William and Mary. For a complete preview, watch Cavalier Countdown to Kickoff, presented by StellarOne Bank, on our family of stations. Times and stations can be found on our web channel,
