Virginia women's soccer has high hopes for the 2009 season. Despite a loss in their season opener at Penn State, the Cavaliers bounced back with a 5-0 win in their home opener against Liberty on Friday, and looked to win their second in a row on Sunday afternoon.
It didn't take long for the Cavs to get on the board. Jess Rostedt gave a nice cross just out of reach of the Hofstra keeper to Lauren Alwine as she planted one in the back of the net for the first goal of the game...and took an early 1-0 lead.
Virginia would take a 2-0 lead at half, but opened the flood gates after the break. The Cavaliers scored five goals in the second half and walked away with a convincing 7-0 win over the Pride.
The Cavs are back in action on Friday, Sept. 4th, as they travel to Tempe, AZ for the Sun Devil Classic.
