The Cavalier football team will hit the field for its next game on October 3rd, as Virginia travels to North Carolina to open up ACC play. It was announced Monday that kickoff for that game has been set for noon at Keenan Stadium.
Virginia enters the contest with an 0-3 record, and will have a bye week this weekend. The Cavs did show signs if improvement this past Saturday at Southern Mississippi, gaining 390 yards of total offense. This marks the ACC opener for Virginia.
North Carolina is 3-0 on the season, and ranked 22nd in the latest AP Poll. The Tar Heels are coming off a 31-17 win over East Carolina this past weekend, and will travel to Georgia Tech this Saturday for their respective ACC opener.
Virginia will look to extend a three game winning streak against North Carolina. The last Tar Heel victory was a 7-5 low scoring affair at Keenan Stadium in 2005. The Cavs extended the winning streak in dramatic fashion last season, as Cedric Peerman scored the game winning touchdown in overtime to secure the 16-10 win.
We will have much more on this match up as kickoff approaches.
