Head Coach Al Groh and the Virginia Cavaliers open up ACC play this weekend, as they travel to North Carolina on Saturday to battle the Tar Heels. Coach Groh sat down one-on-one with CBS19's Marc Davis, as he does every Wednesday, to talk about Virginia's upcoming game.
Groh says that the bye week have been very productive and the team has worked a lot on improving itself. He touched a little bit on the special teams unit, especially with its rough performance during the second half at Southern Mississippi. The Cavs gave up 205 yards on special teams, including a kickoff return for a touchdown. Groh did point out that they have always put a heavy emphasis on special teams, which made that performance frustrating.
The head coach also talked about the upcoming opponent. North Carolina's defense jumps out to him as a strong point, and he also pointed out that the last two times the Tar Heels have lost, the opposing quarterbacks have had big days. The Cavaliers will look for their offense to keep the improvements going from Southern Mississippi. Jameel Sewell had 312 yards of passing and four total touchdowns.
Groh's Gameplan can be seen every Wednesday live during CBS19 News at Noon. Click on the above video link to view this week's edition.
