Al Groh's team is riding a two game winning streak heading into this Saturday's game against Maryland, and the head coach is hoping to see more of the same. Groh sat down for his weekly interview with CBS19's Marc Davis on Wednesday and talked about Virginia's upcoming battle with Maryland.
When asked if he's a believer in momentum, Groh replied that he's a believer in confidence, which is a result of demonstrative performance. His team is on a two game winning streak, and is playing well, and he hopes that builds confidence, which can lead to momentum.
He also touched on Mikell Simpson, who has rushed for 183 yards and five touchdowns in the last two games. Simpson left with a neck injury in the third quarter of Saturday's win over Indiana, and Groh says that things are positive, but they are keeping an eye on his situation before they make a definitive decision about whether he'll play or not.
The head coach also talked about Maryland as an opponent on both sides of the ball, and quarterback Chris Turner and wide receiver Torrey Smith.
Groh's Gameplan can be seen live during CBS19 News at Noon every Wednesday. Click on the above video link to view this week's segment.
