Al Groh and his Cavalier Football Team hit the practice field this afternoon for the first day of spring workouts. Virginia will return 19 starters from last year's team that finished with a 5-7 record, and missed a bowl game for only the second time during Al Groh's tenure as the Cavs' head coach.
The spring program will conclude on April 14th with the annual spring game.
One of the concerns entering spring workouts is the health of quarterback Jameel Sewell. The southpaw had wrist surgery back in December, and threw a football for the first time today since the season ended last November.
Saturday and Sunday's practices are open to the public. Saturday's practice begins at 11:30am, while Sunday's will start at 2:45pm. Click on the above video link for highlights of today's first practice.
