For 50 years, the Lane Baseball Diamond has been home to one of Charlottesville's favorite pasttimes. Today the league opened up the new season with quite the party.
While the field off McIntire has been around for half-a-century, today marked the Lane Babe Ruth Little League's 42nd Opening Day. Ten teams were introduced on the field.
Former Lane Little Leaguer and Major League player and coach Mike Cubbage threw out the first pitch.
