Jacob Thomspon gave up only four hits and struck out ten Blue Devils, as the Cavalier Baseball Team shut out Duke, 4-0. The sophomore hurler recorded the second complete game shutout of his career.

Thompson seemed to have control of his location and speed from the first pitch to the final out. In addition to the ten strikeouts, the right hander did not walk any batters in the contest, and improved to 8-0 on the season.

Several Cavaliers got it going with the bat as well. Brandon Marsh hit an RBI triple in the fifth to put Virginia ahead, 2-0, and Sean Doolittle's RBI double in the seventh pushed across the third run of the game.

With the victory, Virginia improves to 28-6 on the season, 9-4 in the ACC. The Cavaliers are now 18-1 at Davenport Field, where they will play six of their next seven games.

The Cavaliers and Blue Devils continue their series tomorrow afternoon at 4:00.
