Sene Suspended For Three Games

November 7, 2009

Virginia men's basketball head coach Tony Bennett has suspended center Assane Sene for three games for conduct detrimental to the team. He also will not play in the team's closed scrimmage against St. John's Sunday.

Sene will miss Virginia's season opener with Longwood on November 13th, the first road game at South Florida on November 16th and a home game with Rider on November 19th. He is eligible to return for Virginia's home game with Oral Roberts on November 21st.

At 7 feet, Sene is the tallest player on the team. He also is the only true center on the Virginia roster. Last season, Sene led the team with 35 blocked shots while averaging 2.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
