It seems as if we're all waiting for football season to finally be over with. The pain has gone on long enough for Cavalier football.

Tony Bennett's debut as head men's basketball coach is right around the corner. Should we be excited? Worried? I'd say cautiously optimistic.

Even Dave Leitao had success in his first few years at UVa. In 2007, he was named the ACC's coach of the year. Bennett comes to town with similar accolades. In 2007, he was the National Coach of the Year and is primed to turn around a program stuck in mediocrity.

Bennett's first season won't be easy. He already has three of his players out for the first few games. Calvin Baker is nursing a knee injury, Assane Sene is suspended for three games, and Jamil Tucker has took a leave of absence from the team, with no return date in sight.

Those players were a big part of the team last season, and starting this season without them could hurt Tony's first impression with Wahoo Nation.

Everything is too be determined. Bennett is the type of coach that works around troubles and makes the best of what's around. Here's hoping that it works here in Hoo-ville.
