Ryan Zimmerman has won his first Gold Glove award, earning the honor at third base in the National League. Zimmerman is the first former Cavalier to ever win a Gold Glove and the first Washington National as well.

Zimmerman led the National League in assists, chances, and total put-outs this season. He also boasted a .963 fielding percentage and was one of few bright spots for a Washington club that finished with the worst record in baseball. In just his fourth season, Zimmerman has become the face of the Nationals' franchise and signed a five year contract at the beginning of the 2009 season.

The former Wahoo is also just the fourth former ACC player to win a Gold Glove.
