The Fluvanna baseball team scored five runs in the second inning and held off a Monticello charge, handing the Mustangs their first district loss of the season, 9-8.
Joe Edwards got the rally started in the second inning, belting an opposite field double down the right field line to score Steven Trader. It was the start of a five-run inning that propelled the Flucos past Monticello.
In girls lacrosse action, Albemarle was victorious over Rockbridge in a non-district game tonight. The Patriots jumped out to an 8-1 lead, en route to a 9-4 victory.
