Virginia Men Cruise in NCAA Opener

The Virginia men's soccer team shut out Bucknell in its NCAA tournament opener, advancing to the round of 16.

Will Bates led the way for Virginia with a hat trick in his NCAA debut. Tony Tchani and Hunter Jumper also had goals for Virginia, while goalkeeper Diego Restrepo posted his ninth consecutive shutout. Tchani also assisted on two goals for the Cavs.

With Sunday's shutout, Restrepo broke Tony Meola's school record of consecutive shutout minutes. His streak now stands at 927:34.

Virginia will host Portland in the round of 16 on Sunday November 29th. The Cavaliers defeated Portland 3-0 in their season opener back in September.
