Jacob Thompson pitched eight innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out six, as the Cavalier baseball team grabbed a 5-3 win against Clemson Friday night. Thompson improves to a perfect 9-0 on the season.
Sean Doolittle bolstered the offense, going 3-4 with two RBI in the win, while Brandon Guyer extended his career and ACC best hitting streak to 26 games with a 1-5 performance at the plate.
Greg Miclat stole two bases to push his single season UVa stolen base record to 29, while Virginia stole nine bases as a team.
The Cavaliers improve to 33-8 overall on the year, 12-6 in the ACC. They'll battle the Tigers in game two of the series Saturday night at 7:00.
