Sophomore pitcher Jacob Thompson has been named this week's ACC Pitcher of the Week. The hurler secured his second complete game shutout of the season on Friday in a 14-0 win over Maryland. Thompson gave up only four hits, while striking out six.
On the season, Thompson is boasting a 1.38 earned run average, which is the best in the ACC. He also has a 10-0 record, with the ten wins ranking second in the ACC, behind only Bryan Henry of Florida State (11-0).
Virginia is back in action tomorrow night, as they host Virginia Commonwealth at Davenport Field. First pitch is set for 7:00.
