Tyler Cannon hit a single that scored Tim Henry from second in the bottom of the ninth, as the Cavalier Baseball Team earned a 5-4 win over Virginia Commonwealth. It marks the second time that Virginia has beaten the Rams this season.
The Cavaliers led 2-1 after the first inning, and extended the lead to 3-1 in the fourth, as Jeremy Farrell clubbed his first home run of the season. The Rams came back in the fifth for three runs of their own, taking a 4-3 lead. Virginia responded in the sixth, as Brandon Guyer hit a two out RBI double to score Sean Doolittle, tying the game at four. The contest remained deadlocked at four until Cannon's walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth.
Andrew Carroway earned the win in relief, improving his record to 5-0. Doolittle led Virginia offensively, going 3-4 with two runs and an RBI.
The Cavs do not have another game until May 11, when they welcome NC State in for a three game series.
