Summer is just around the corner, and that means children from around central Virginia are getting their goggles and swimsuits ready to hop into the pools.

Today, some youngsters got to meet one of the sport's rising stars at the Gator Dome at the Fairview Swim Complex. More than 60 young swimmers spent the afternoon with Kate Ziegler.

The 18 year old recently won two gold medals at the world championships and is the hands-on favorite to bring home more gold at the Olympic Games next year in Beijing.

She currently holds three American long-distance swimming records. Her clinic this afternoon was a big hit, and she hopes it was an inspiration as well.
