Eric Church struck out eight batters as the Louisa Baseball Team was able to shut down Monticello, 4-1. Brian Grubbs bolstered the Louisa bats with three RBI.
In boys' lacrosse, one of the biggest rivalries in Central Virginia took place tonight as STAB snuck by Western Albemarle in double overtime. The Warriors took the 5-2 lead into halftime, but the Saints reponded, outscoring Western 5-1 in the second half to force the extra sessions. Max Pfeifer led the way with three goals.
Covenant hosted Miller in the League of Independent Schools Semifinals. The Eagles won 22-2 the last time these teams met earlier in the season, and took it 15-4 this time around. Billy Hendricks and Luke Heinsohn both found the back of the net three times in the win. The Eagles advance to the LIS finals.
Monticello traveled across Mill Creek Drive to take on Tandem Friends, and returned on the losing end of a 7-6 game. Matt Jones and Jake Balogh each scored two goals for the Badgers, as Tandem came back from a three goal deficit to take the victory. Rod Jackson led the Mustangs with three goals.
In girls action, Charlottesville hosted Albemarle in a non-district contest tonight, and were unable to beat the visiting Patriots, as the Knights fell 8-5. Katherine Ballard led all scorers with four goals in the losing cause. Katie Tubridy paced Albemarle with three goals, while Mason Wood added two scores.
The LIS quarterfinals featured Covenant hosting Steward, and featured a lot of scoring. The Eagles came out on top, 18-10, and were led by Katie Williams, who scored four goals and dished out seven assists. Covenant advances to the LIS semifinals.
