It's not the way the Cavs envisioned their trip to Cancun, but they'll take it. After falling on Tuesday to Stanford, Virginia rebounded nicely and mounted a comeback win over the Cleveland State Vikings.
In the first half, Aaron Pogue stole the show for the Vikings. He contributed eight points by going 4-for-4 from the field in the first half. Cleveland State put the Cavs in a 34-27 hole at the break.
In the second half, Virginia took over. More specifically, Will Sherrill. The Cavalier walk-on's previous career high in points was three heading into Wednesday, but capped off the night with five three pointers and 18 points to shatter his career high 15 points. Sylven Landesberg also had a big night with 20 points.
The Cavs look to keep rolling on Monday, as they come back home to host Penn State at John Paul Jones Arena.
