The state of Virginia is the first state in the nation to be analyzed from top to bottom in an effort to make golf better as a sport and as a business. The Virginia Golf Council held a press conference in Richmond on Tuesday to discuss their goals and research. Governor Tim Kaine declared Tuesday, May 15, "Play Golf Virginia Day." Some of the top administrators in golf were on hand to discuss the state of golf in Virginia and how it relates to the entire nation. The USGA, PGA and LPGA were just a few of the major organizations represented. The Executive Director of the USGA David Fay and Golf Course Superintendent of the Keswick Club at Monticello Peter McDonough feel the state of Virginia has a lot to offer for the sport of golf.
