Virginia Players React to London's Hiring

December 7, 2009

The Virginia football players are happy to have a new head coach in place just a little more than a week after their former head coach was fired. They're even happier it's a guy they're familiar with in Mike London.

London served as defensive coordinator at Virginia from 2006-2007 and was instrumental in recruiting several of the current defensive players on the Virginia roster. CBS19 caught up with some of those players today, including Cam Johnson, Nick Jenkins, Matt Conrath and Rodney McLeod. All of those players were recruited by London and they are excited about his return to Charlottesville.

"Everything's great now knowing that he's back," said Johnson. "We got a passionate coach who's gonna give us everything he has and make sure we're on the right track to win."

The players also added that they feel much better knowing that a coach has been named prior to the holiday break.

"It's a sigh of relief," said Jenkins. "He's a great coach, we're very excited to have him here."
