Virginia first-baseman Sean Doolittle was the 41st overall pick of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft Thursday by the Oakland Athletics. He's the highest Cavalier draftee since Ryan Zimmerman was the fourth overall pick in 2005.

Brandon Guyer was a fifth round pick (157th overall) to the Chicago Cubs.

Doolittle hit .301 this year with seven home runs and a team-best 53 RBI. He finished the season as the UVa all-time leader in RBI (167) and wins (22).

Guyer hit .370 this year with a team-high eight home runs, 51 runs scored and 84 hits as well as 43 RBI.

Both players were selected to the All-ACC First Team.

The MLB Draft continues on Friday.
