The Cavalier men's soccer team continues to celebrate its national championship and two members of that team added individual honors to their trophy case on Tuesday. Forward Tony Tchani and goalkeeper Diego Restrepo have been named first team All-Americans by College Soccer News.
Tchani put together a solid sophomore campaign after taking home ACC Freshman of the Year honors in 2008. His second season at Virginia saw him tally eight goals and dish out four assists. It marks Tchani's second All-American honor of the season as he was given first team honors by the National College Soccer Association of American last week.
Restrepo put together one of the finest seasons ever by a goalkeeper in Virginia history. He finished the season leading the nation with an 89 percent save percentage and second in the nation in goals allowed per game (0.30). He set school records of eleven straight shutouts and 16 shutouts on the season.
Tcahni, Restrepo and the Cavaliers are fresh off a national championship. Virginia topped Akron in penalty kicks on Sunday, 3-2, after battling to a scoreless tie.
