Though it was very cold outside, the gym inside William Monroe high school was red hot on Wednesday night.
The Lady Dragons hosted rival Madison, and put some pressure on the Mountaineers early. Coach Phillip Lamb put Madison in an eight point hole at halftime, and did not let up in the second half. Madison falls to William Monroe, 58-38.
On the boys side, the Mountaineers were looking to improve to 6-0 on the season, but the Dragons had other plans. Kris Thomas sparked Monroe early to a three point lead, but Jerel Carter and the rest of Madison had other plans. Carter kick started the Mountaineer offense with back to back dunks and rode a 25-15 lead into the half. Coach Ben Breeden and the team made sure there were no comebacks late, and Madison wins again 53-39 the final.
