Jamil Tucker has been dismissed from the Cavalier men's basketball team effective immediately. Head coach Tony Bennett made the announcement on Tuesday.
Bennett released a statement on the matter, saying, “We expect our student-athletes to perform to certain standards academically and Jamil has not met those standards. We wish him well and will provide assistance where we can, but he is no longer a member of our team.”
Bennett announced that Tucker would be taking an indefinite leave of absence on November 11. He returned to the practice court on November 27 but did not see any time in a game this season.
A member of Dave Leitao's first recruiting class, Tucker lettered each of the last three seasons for the Cavaliers. He played in 88 games, starting seven, averaging 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds a game.
