Being rusty is something that hindered the UVa scoring attack on Monday night as the Cavaliers struggled to get going offensively against the New Jersey Institute of Technology. That was not the case on Wednesday, as the Cavs welcomed the Hampton Pirates to John Paul Jones Arena.
Virginia stormed out of the gate going on a 12-0 run to open the first half while connecting with seven three-pointers to open up a 20 point lead at the break. Thanks to a double-double performance from Sylven Landesberg, Virginia didn't need any help in the second half. Landesberg finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds while also recording six assists. Two other Cavaliers were in double figures as Sammy Zeglinski finished wtih 13 and Mustapha Farrakhan had ten.
With the 80-54 victory, the Cavaliers improve to 6-4 on the season. The team will now have a short break for the Christmas Holiday before preparing for the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
