A six-run second inning by the Pittsburgh Pirates' offense was enough to keep the Washington Nationals from winning their first game in five tries.
The Pirates defeated the Nats Saturday, 7-2, led by Adam LaRoche's 3 RBI. The Nats struck in the first inning on a Dmitri Young RBI-single. Young is third in the NL with a .337 average. But Pittsburgh scored six in the second and added a run in the fifth for the win.
The Nationals have lost five in a row and 11 of their last 14 games. Ryan Zimmerman went 2-4 in the loss.
