August 27, 2007
Last season, the Virginia offense under-performed, and they'll look to get started out on the right foot this Saturday, as the Cavaliers head to Wyoming. This marks a rematch of last year's home opener for Virginia, in which they topped the Cowboys, 13-12, in overtime. This season, the Cavs hope that it will not be that close.
One area of concern for Al Groh and his team is the offense, and they feel they have a solid grasp on it in 2007. Last year, the Cavs' numbers were less-than stellar. Virginia averaged 99.9 yards rushing, good enough for a ranking of 100th in the NCAA. The offense also averaged 157.3 yards passing (102), and 257.2 total yards per game (113). Mike Groh's unit also only averaged 15.1 points per game (112).
Virginia and Wyoming square off at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon.
