When Virginia meets Wyoming in Saturday's season opener, it will mark Al Groh's seventh season at the head of the Cavalier bench. Groh has gained winning records in four of the six season's, reaching bowl games in each. After last season's 5-7 performance, he looks forward to the chance to reverse his team's fortunes.
Groh has coached at either the college or professional level every year since 1968. He arrived as the head coach at his alma mater in 2001, and has compiled a 42-33 record at Virginia, including a 25-23 ACC mark. His teams have won nine games over ranked opponents.
The head coach returns 18 starters from last season's team, putting the experience factor in the Cavaliers favor. Virginia and Wyoming will kick things off at 2:00 eastern time on Saturday. Click on the above video link to hear Groh talk about starting another season.
