Albemarle pitcher Joe Burris says he's been a Virginia Tech fan since he learned to throw a baseball.
Now, the talented lefty will get to fulfill his wish of playing for the Hokies.
Burris, surrounded by friends and family, signed his letter of intent Friday to play at Virginia Tech.
His father is a Hokie alum and now Burris will don the orange and maroon as well.
"Well I've always been a Hokie and I've been going there since I was little. I love it there," Burris said. " I always thought I would just go there and be a part of the school but to play baseball is amazing."
Burris loves Blacksburg so much he even said it "feels more like home than Charlottesville."
He won't be too far from home, however, and with the Hokies in the ACC, an occasional trip back to Charlottesville to play Virginia will be in order.
"It'll be a lot of fun and I hope people come and watch and it'll be great to be close to home as well," he added.
