Junior Mark Cockerton continued his hot start to the lacrosse season with six more goals Tuesday night, leading Virginia to an 18-11 win over Mount Saint Mary's.
Cockerton's six goals matched his career high, set last Tuesday in a win against VMI. After missing Virginia's season opener against Drexel, Cockerton has already surpassed his career high with 17 total goals in three games this year.
The Cavaliers improved to 4-0 on the season with Tuesday's win. Virginia also improved to 11-0 all-time against the Mountaineers.
Junior Rob Emery added four goals for Virginia -- all in the second quarter -- while junior Nick O'Reilly added a goal and a team-high four assists. Through four games, O'Reilly leads the Cavaliers with 19 points (six goals and 13 assists).
Tuesday's game was played at University Hall's Turf Field instead of Klöckner Stadium because of the steady rain that fell on central Virginia throughout the afternoon.
