Former Virginia offensive lineman Luke Bowanko signed his rookie contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, according to the team's website. Bowanko becomes the first of the Jaguars’ nine 2014 draft selections to sign with the team.
Bowanko was picked in the sixth round as the No. 205 overall pick by the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent last weekend with the team taking part in rookie camp.
The former Cavalier started the final 37 games of his career at UVa, seeing time at right guard, left guard and center. In 2012, he was the starting center, and then played at left guard for the first four games of 2013 before injuries to the offensive line forced him back to center.
