Boyle's Cavs Picked Fourth in ACC

Virginia women's basketball, coming off the program's highest win total in more than a decade, has been picked to finish fourth in the ACC this season.

The conference released its preseason media and coaches' polls on Tuesday. The Cavaliers were picked fourth in the media poll, while Virginia and Florida State were tied for sixth in the coaches' poll.

Duke was the preseason favorite in both polls, followed in both by Maryland and Georgia Tech.

The Cavaliers are entering their second season under head coach Joanne Boyle. Virginia is coming off a 25-11 season in 2011-12 -- the program's best win total since going 25-9 in 1999-2000 -- and an appearance in the WNIT quarterfinals.

Virginia junior guard Ataira Franklin was named preseason All-ACC by both the media and coaches. Franklin was an honorable mention All-ACC selection following last season, when she started all 36 games for the Cavaliers, and averaged 12.4 points-per-game.
