Morgan Brian's golden goal in the second overtime kept No. 1 Virginia unbeaten with a thrilling 3-2 win over No. 5 Notre Dame in front of a record crowd of 2,838 in the driving rain at Klöckner Stadium.
The Cavaliers improved to 13-0 on the season.
Brian headed a Danielle Colaprico corner kick in the second overtime just inside the post for the winner.
The Wahoos wasted little time getting on the scoreboard first. Gloria Douglas headed in a cross from Colaprico for her second goal of the season to make it 1-0 four minutes in.
An Irish goal in the 25h minute tied the game 1-1 at the half.
Virginia went back on top in the 50th minute with some help from the Irish. A Molly Menchel cross deflected a Notre Dame defender for an own goal, giving UVa a 2-1 lead.
But Elizabeth Tucker's second goal of the night for the Irish once again knotted the game, this time at 2-2 in the 73rd minute, where it would stay until Brian's game-winner.
