Burger King Student-Athlete of the Week: Clare Moretz

May 12, 2011

Madison County High School senior Clare Moretz is this week's choice for Burger King Student-Athlete of the Week.

Moretz is a cross country and track standout for the Mountaineers. She was named all-district, all-region and all-state her first three years, but was unable to compete in cross country this season due to an injury. She was also the group A state runner-up in cross country her junior year.

This season, Moretz is hoping to defend several state titles on the track. She is the two-time defending state champion in the 1600m run and the defending state champion in the 800m run.

Moretz's credentials are just as impressive in the classroom. She has a 3.7 GPA and ranks 20th out of 128 members of her senior class.

Moretz will attend the University of Richmond in the fall and she will be a member of the Spiders' track and field team.
