History was on Virginia's side when the Cavaliers visited the Boston College women on Thursday night. But history doesn't win basketball games.
The Eagles got 21 points on seven three-pointers from senior Kerri Shields, leading Boston College to a 61-49 win against the Cavaliers. It's just the third BC win in 14 all-time meetings between the two programs.
The loss drops the Cavaliers to 15-9 on the season, and 7-6 in the ACC. Boston College improves to 10-14, and 4-9 in the conference.
Simone Egwu and Sarah Imovbioh had 12 points apiece to lead Virginia. Imovbioh also pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds off the bench, giving her four double-doubles this season.
