With a one-goal lead at halftime, the Richmond women's lacrosse team was halfway to an upset of the No. 8 team in the country on Wednesday evening.
But Virginia had other ideas.
The Cavaliers held Richmond scoreless in the second half, and put up seven goals after the break to improve to 2-0 with a 13-7 win.
The Virginia defense forced eight turnovers and allowed just nine shots in the second half. Offensively, the Cavaliers' seven goals came from six different players.
Ashlee Warner led the Cavaliers with three goals, including two in the second half. She also had two assists, finishing the night with a game-high five points. Casey Bocklet added two goals and two assists for Virginia.
