Joe Harris led Virginia with 17 points and Paul Jesperson scored a career-high nine as the Cavaliers topped Lamar 63-44 on Monday night.
The Cavaliers shot 43.4 percent from the field and were a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line. Defensively, they held Lamar to 32.6 percent shooting.
Akil Mitchell added 10 points and 8 rebounds for Virginia. Freshman point guard Teven Jones made his first career start and had 6 points and 2 assists in 27 minutes.
"Teven is making the offense a lot more fluid," said Jesperson. "Being able to push in transition is helping out our offense, and just having a point guard out there to run things has helped us a lot."
The Cavaliers held an opponent under 50 points for the third time this season and the 21st time under Tony Bennett.
