The Virginia men's basketball team survived a late rally Saturday night to edge North Carolina State 61-60. The Wolfpack got within a point on a three-pointer with 50 seconds left but Lorenzo Brown's game-winning attempt fell short at the buzzer.

Virginia improves to 17-3, 4-2 in the ACC, moving into fourth place in the conference standings. NC State (15-7, 4-3) falls a half-game behind in fifth.

UVa senior guard Sammy Zeglinski found his groove behind the arc, connecting on 4 of 5 three-point attempts for 12 points. Joe Harris also chipped in 12 points and Mike Scott led the team with 18.

Zeglinski hit a trio of threes in the first half, helping the Cavaliers to a 38-31 halftime lead.

In the second half Virginia extended their lead to as many as ten, part of a 8-0 scoring run. In the final minute, the Wolfpack cut the deficit to four. After a pair of missed free throws from C.J. Leslie, a defensive rebound set up a Scott Wood three-pointer to put NC State within on, 61-60, with 50 seconds to play. On Virginia's ensuing possession, Zeglinski missed a jumper attempt giving the 'Pack on last chance to win it. With 7.8 seconds, Lorenzo Brown missed the game-winning attempt to seal their fate.

The Cavaliers return home to host Clemson on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
