Cavs' Latest Addition: Tennessee Transfer Thompson

Guard Darius Thompson is the latest addition to the Virginia basketball team's roster.

Thompson's father told multiple outlets Tuesday night that his son was transferring from Tennessee to UVa. Thompson appeared in 37 games for the Volunteers as a freshman in 2013-14, averaging 2.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.

The Volunteers were an NCAA Tournament team in 2014, but Thompson announced plans to transfer after coach Cuonzo Martin left Tennessee for California. Thompson had initially been recruited by the Cavaliers before signing with Tennessee in 2013.

Thompson must sit out the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules. He will have three years of eligibility remaining at UVa.
