Cavs Prep for Wake With Harris 'Day-to-Day'

As the Virginia men's basketball team gets ready for its ACC home opener Wednesday against Wake Forest, it's still unclear if they will have leading scorer Joe Harris on the floor. Harris suffered a concussion early in Saturday's win over Florida State.

The 'Hoos senior guard didn't practice Monday, with head coach Tony Bennett explaining on his radio show Monday night that "he didn't feel quite right, so we said let's hold him out today." Harris is officially day-to-day and is expected to undergo concussion tests on Tuesday.

With or without Harris, UVa will be looking to improve to 2-0 in the ACC against the Demon Deacons on Wednesday. Wake is also 1-0 in the conference after pulling off a 73-67 upset over North Carolina on Sunday.

"They're having a good year," Bennett said of the Demon Deacons. "They took Kansas to the wire, handled USC, and are playing real good basketball. They're similar to us in the fact that they have a couple good seniors and a bunch of sophomores that played a lot as freshman."

The 'Hoos head into the matchup coming off their 62-50 win over the Seminoles on Saturday. With conference play just getting started Bennett's players are still finding their identity as a team, but he says the win was a step in the right direction.

"I liked their heart and their fight," he said. "There was more of an identity of who they were and who we needed to be to have a chance. As a coach you're always looking, 'do we understand how we have to play?' And I thought they got closer to that and again we have to keep going in that direction."
